I am a junior at Duke University majoring in computer science and economics and minoring in philosophy. I love architecting and coding up projects big and small and finding exuses reading/learning about new technologies (currently obsessed with node.js and couchdb), you can checkout many of my personal projects at https://github.com/deanchen.
I’m the president of the Duke Smart Home where I try to get students excited about and involved with technological solutions to our everyday problems. The two big projects we have are a real time bus tracker built on top of the maps api(example at http://stage.dutrack.com) and a system for displaying the occupancy of library rooms built on the Arduino platform.
I also manage The Chronicle’s online department where we have a team of 30 students working to improve and maintain various aspects of the website.
I’m also the CTO of the Duke Investment Club where I personally maintain the website and the algorithm for generating share price of the club. I am also a member of the executive board and lead a team of more than half a dozen student analysts to guide them through evaluating and pitching stocks and with the rest of the board to determine which stocks to invest in.
